19th. Century Walrus by OddManOutPress 19th. Century Walrus by OddManOutPress
I have a great appreciation for 19th century art and artists; most notably John Singer Sargent, Whistler, and Charles Dana Gibson. They are always a source of inspiration for me in my own artwork. I thought it would be fun to juxtapose some traditional pen and ink work with the walrus, and some clothing of the period. He seemed like a good chap.

Pen and Ink on vellum. 11x14. Enjoy

heeeee!! I love this! I've always admired people that work well with the hatching style shading. I've never been able to get the hang of it.

Carrie, Thank you for the kind words. I like your page too. Nice life drawings with the tinted chalk. Study the old masters. Thats what I do. When in doubt consult a ninja turtle :)

You're very welcome! I'm glad you like my work. The greatest master of all (in my humble opinion) is Leonardo. I recently got to see some of his sketches for the first time and I was very excited!

Thats awesome to see his drawings up close, we had a great show here at the Met a few years ago of his drawings. Really awe inspiring stuff. I had a silverpoint....I forgot where it went. Used to work good on magazine paper, or gessoed paper. Yes good work on your page. Artists sketches and studies are always my favorite.
